Lansing, MI - Despite only allowing one earned run in six innings, Jake Floethe took the loss in a Lansing Lugnuts (20-13, 67-35) 4-0 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods (20-13, 58-45) on Friday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. The Hot Rods made three of their four errors behind Floethe, who received just his second loss all season and his first since April 26. A win would have clinched a sweep for the Hot Rods, who still leave Lansing with a series win.
The only highlight for the Hot Rods offense on Friday night was Jake Hager's two hits. Toronto's top left-handed pitching prospect Justin Nicolino dominated the Bowling Green bats in his six innings. The Hot Rods had two late chances to get back in the game against the Lansing bullpen, but those opportunities fell short.
Despite taking the loss, Hot Rods starter Jake Floethe was able to strike out a career high seven opponents. The Lugnuts scored an earned run and unearned run in the bottom of the first inning against Floethe and added an unearned tally in the bottom of the third. Even the lone run scored off of Jason McEachern was due to the Hot Rods fourth error of the night.
