CANCUN, Mexico — Jamal Crook has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after leading the Hilltoppers to wins over Austin Peay and Western Carolina last week, announced Tuesday by the Sun Belt Conference office. It is Crook's first career weekly honor from the league and first by a Hilltopper since Sergio Kerusch on January 31, 2011.

Crook, a senior from Louisville, Ky., averaged 21.0 points per game last week and shot 61.1 percent from the floor. He scored 16 points and had nine assists against the Governors on Tuesday and followed it up with a career high 26 points on 6-of-8 shooting against the Catamounts to finish the week. Crook played 29.5 minutes per game in the two Hilltopper victories, and he had 13 assists and just six turnovers. Crook made 14 of 15 free throws in the Western Carolina game, setting career marks in those categories as well.
