BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men's basketball coach Ray Harper announced Wednesday the signing of Jordan Green (6-5, F, Lexington, Ky.) to a National Letter of Intent to suit up for the Hilltoppers in the upcoming 2014-15 season.
Green joins Derrick Clayton (6-5, G, Castro Valley, Calif.), Justin Johnson (6-7, F, Hazard, Ky.) and Avery Patterson (6-1, G, Decatur, Ga.) as signees for the Hilltoppers in the Class of 2014. All will be freshmen for the Hilltoppers in 2014-15.
"Jordan is a terrific basketball player and athlete. He is someone we have tracked for three years, and we are very excited to add another Kentucky player to the roster. He is an extremely versatile backcourt player, and he has the potential to help us right away. To be able to have the two all-time leading scorers in Henry Clay history wear Hilltopper red is something we are very proud about."
Green averaged 20.2 points and 7.6 rebounds for Henry Clay High School as a senior in 2013-14, and he helped the Blue Devils to the Region 11 championship game in each of his final two seasons at Henry Clay. Green led Henry Clay in scoring three seasons in a row, and he finished his career second on the program's scoring list with 1,718 points and also had 709 career rebounds.
Henry Clay's all-time leading scorer, Steve Miller, was Kentucky's Mr. Basketball in 1984 and lettered four years at WKU (1985-86, 1988-89).
Green was named to the Lexington Herald-Leader's All-State Boys Basketball First Team following his senior season, along with fellow WKU signee Johnson. The Blue Devils' Region 11 championship game losses the last two seasons came to eventual state champion Madison Central in 2013 and state runner-up Scott County in 2014.
