BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU freshman Kendall Noble will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Sunday’s game at Kent State. A full recovery is expected back in time for the 2013-14 campaign.

“Any coach does not want to hear that about their players,” said WKU head coach Michelle Clark-Heard. “I am really sad that the fans did not get to see Kendall Noble this year. The greatest thing about that is we will have her for four more years and everyone will have the chance to see how special she is. She came back in the Morehead State game and had a really good game and then this happens. She is an unbelievable young lady from an unbelievable family.”

Noble played in two games for the Lady Toppers this season. She recorded four points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes against Morehead State last Thursday in her Lady Topper debut. She had five points and three rebounds against Kent State on Sunday, both wins for WKU.

Prior to coming to WKU, Noble played her last two high school seasons at Perry County Central High School, after starting her prep career at Breathitt County. She helped lead the Lady Commodores to a Region 14 championship and the 2012 KHSAA Sweet Sixteen tournament. She previously came back from a left knee injury near the end of her junior season to average 14.5 points and shoot 60 percent from the floor during her senior campaign in addition to 9.1 rebounds per contest, helping PCC to a 30-3 record. She earned all-state honors, and was also one of five finalists for the Miss Kentucky Basketball award in 2012. Noble finished her prep career with 2,987 points, 1,653 rebounds, 1,014 steals and 916 assists, becoming the first player in state history to compete in six straight state tournaments, the final two at Perry County Central and four at Breathitt County.

Noble will have surgery, but the procedure has yet to be scheduled.
