Lady Toppers Fall at Vanderbilt 85-60

Vanderbilt senior guard Christine Foggie, a preseason All-SEC selection, had 26 points, hitting 7-of-11 from the field to lead Vanderbilt while WKU's Alexis Govan had 18 points to lead the Lady Toppers.

NASHVILLE, Tn. (PRESS RELEASE) -- Lady Topper Basketball led by as many as nine early, but a big Vanderbilt run late in the opening half helped Vanderbilt run away with a 85-60 decision over WKU on Monday night.

Vanderbilt senior guard Christine Foggie, a preseason All-SEC selection, had 26 points, hitting 7-of-11 from the field to lead Vanderbilt while WKU's Alexis Govan had 18 points to lead the Lady Toppers.

WKU led by as many as nine in the first half at 28-19 following a basket by Bianca McGee with 5:24 left in the first half, but Vanderbilt responded by putting together an 18-3 run to end the half and led 37-31 at halftime. The Vanderbilt run came as WKU's post presences piled up the fouls in the opening half. Chastity Gooch, Jalynn McClain and Bria Gaines all picked up two fouls in the first half.

The Commodores late run was jumpstarted by the play of Foggie, who scored 21 points in the opening stanza. She hit 4-of-6 from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes and 6-of-8 from the field overall.
