Lawson to Play for Great Britain National Team in European Championship in July

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU sophomore center Ben Lawson will suit up for Great Britain in the Under-20 European Basketball Championship, which begins next month in Crete, Greece.

The Hitchin, England native appeared in 12 games in his debut season for the Hilltoppers in 2013-14, averaging 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in nearly eight minutes per outing. Lawson played for Great Britain in the Under-18 European Basketball Championship in the summer of 2013, where the team finished in ninth place.

Great Britain's schedule in the Under-20 European Basketball Championship begins Tuesday, July 8 with a matchup against Latvia. The squad will face Hungary, Greece and Lithuania, before the second round fixtures run from July 14-18. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, July 19, with the final to be contested on Sunday, July 20.
