BOCA RATON, Fla.-The No. 19 Western Kentucky University volleyball team (26-3, 12-0 SBC) used a team hitting percentage of .423 to take a three-set sweep (25-20, 25-12, 25-11) over Florida Atlantic (6-17, 1-11 SBC) Saturday afternoon at FAU Arena.

Five different Lady Toppers hit .400 or higher, as a 4-for-5 effort with no errors had junior Melanie Stutsman hitting .800 while senior Jordyn Skinner's seven kills on 12 attempts with one error put her at .500 in the match. Freshman Haley Bodway led the offense with a team-high 10 kills.

The WKU defense also gave the team a competitive edge, as the team posted nine team blocks compared to the Owls' three. Stutsman put together five blocks while sophomore Heather Boyan and freshman Noelle Langenkamp tallied three each. Junior Ashley Potts collected a game-high 14 digs.

For FAU, Darija Sataric led the attack with 11 kills while Jelena Jovanovic passed out 23 assists. Cintia Nightingale added nine digs followed by Alessia Pizzocheri's eight.

After a quick 3-0 start in favor of WKU, the Owls put together three-straight points of their own to tie the game at 3. That would be as close as FAU would get to WKU, as the Lady Toppers were able to get a five-point distance multiple times throughout the set, including at 14-9 after a redshirt junior Paige Wessel kill to force a timeout. FAU would get within two at 18-16, but WKU would close out the set with a 25-20 win.

With a Skinner service ace tying the second set at 3 all, blocks by Bodway and Langenkamp gave WKU some cushion room at 7-3. The Lady Toppers stayed on the offensive, as three kills in a row from Stutsman and Bodway extended the lead to 14-5. Grabbing two scoring runs of three and four points, WKU would go on to win 25-12.

The Lady Toppers put together its best offensive set in the match after 12 kills on 19 attempts with no errors allowed the team to hit .632 in the final set. With a 5-1 lead to open the frame, WKU cruised to a 14-6 lead and a FAU timeout. Using an ace from senior Sarah Rogers and kills from Skinner and Bodway, the Lady Toppers strung together an 8-1 run to finish the set 25-11.

WKU will complete its final regular-season road trip next weekend, as the Lady Toppers take on Troy on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. before facing South Alabama on Sunday, November 4 at noon.
