BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Surrounding the annual Hilltopper Football Red and White Spring Game, the WKU Athletic Department will have a plethora of giveaways and special deals to celebrate the day, set for April 19 at 1 p.m.
Spring football on The Hill is brought to you by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety’s: Don’t Text and Drive Awareness Program.
Fans are encouraged to begin their day tailgating on campus which will be free and open for all. On South Lawn, the WKU CAB will host a free cookout for WKU students beginning at 10 a.m. and wrapping up at 12:30. The Hilltopper cheer, dance and pep squads as well as Big Red will also throw a Spring Pep Rally on South Lawn beginning at Noon.
Speaking of Big Red, the all-new Big Red statue is set to be unveiled by the WKU Alumni Association at 11:30 at the Augenstein Alumni Center.
Following the pep rally, fans should get into Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium right away as the first 1,500 will receive a free Coke/WKU Football koozie and the first 200 students will receive a free “Get on the #BrohmSquad” t-shirt.
As fans of the Red and White enter the stadium, they should also be sure to stop by the WKU Sports Marketing tables to sign up for a ticket giveaway for the Jake Owen concert, set for April 24 in Diddle Arena. Ten tickets will be given out at halftime to Hilltopper fans who register at the table.
During halftime, Coach Brohm and select WKU staffers will welcome back members of last season’s record-setting senior class for a ceremony where they will receive their jerseys from the 2013 season.
After the game, the Hilltoppers and coaching staff will hold a post-game autograph session on the field as well as take pictures and interact with the Hilltopper Nation. The first 1,000 fans will receive free autograph cards for the signing session.
As if that wasn’t enough, Hilltopper baseball’s first pitch is set for 3 p.m. from Nick Denes Field, and if fans stop by the ticket tables on the lower concourses inside Houchens-Smith Stadium, they can snag a free ticket to the Sun Belt Conference match-up with South Alabama that afternoon.
