Purples Win Third Straight State Title

Bowling Green becomes just the third team to have three straight undefeated seasons joining Boyle County and Trinity as the only schools to accomplish the feat.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Bowling Green Purples (14-0) defeated Pulaski County 49-14 Sunday to win their third straight Class 5A state championship at Houchens L.T. Smith Stadium. The Purples' winning streak now stands at 44 consecutive games stretching over three seasons.

It is the fourth state title in school history for Bowling Green.

The Purples trailed 14-0 early in the game before scoring the game's next 49 points.

Blake Pillow was named the game's MVP. He rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries. He also caught three passes for 30 yards.

Blue Tisdale had three total touchdowns for the Purples.
