BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU senior first baseman Ryan Huck has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Monday.
Huck was one of three Hilltoppers to hit over .600 for the three-game series against ULM over the weekend at Nick Denes Field, as the senior went 9-for-14 (.643) with three RBI and three doubles, including his first career five-hit game on Sunday, going 5-for-5 in the series finale to lead WKU to 9-1 win.
Huck started off his big week against 11th-ranked Louisville on Tuesday, blasting his 12th home run of the season, and his second of the year against Louisville. In the four games last week, Huck hit .611, going 11-for-18 at the plate, with five of his 11 hits going for extra bases. Huck was also named the Player of the Week back on March 18 after he blasted four home runs in a three-game weekend series against Middle Tennessee.
The St. Louis, Mo., native currently leads WKU in nearly every offensive category, including average (.348), runs (34), home runs (12), RBI (42), slugging percentage (.652), on-base percentage (.462) and is tied for the team lead in walks (34). Huck is just three home runs away from moving into the top 10 in WKU history for career home runs, as Huck enters the week with 29 career home runs in a Hilltopper uniform. Huck has started 167 games in his four-year career, driving in 121 runs during that span.
