Western Kentucky University's learning this offseason that the coaching carousel in college football never stops spinning.
Less than a week after losing defensive backs coach Clayton White to Connecticut and just two weeks after National Signing Day, the Hilltoppers are losing quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Mike Sanford.
Sources close to the WKU program told WBKO on Wednesday that Sanford will become running backs coach at Stanford, confirming an earlier report by FootballScoop.com.
Sanford joins White and defensive coordinator Clint Bowen, who took the same job at North Texas, as Hilltopper assistants to leave the program since the end of the season.
Coincidentally, Sanford takes the same job that WKU head coach Willie Taggart had before becoming the Hilltoppers' boss in December 2009. Sanford is a native Californian and told InsideHilltopperSports.com his departure came, in part, to be closer to home.
