Seldom-used Hood Plays Different Roles at Kentucky

INDIANAPOLIS -- Kentucky guard Jon Hood never thought he'd be better known for defending 17 future NBA players in practice than making shots for his home-state school.

He never dreamed he'd be remembered for simulating dozens more pros on the Wildcats' scout team. He couldn't even comprehend that he'd finish his college career with the nickname coach Hood.

But this is what has Kentucky's 2009 Mr. Basketball Award winner perfectly positioned for life after basketball.

Hood isn't ready to give up his basketball dream yet. The fifth-year senior wants to play pro basketball somewhere next season before pursuing a coaching career. And before that, he'd like to celebrate one more Final Four trip. All the eighth-seeded Wildcats (27-10) have to do is beat second-seeded Michigan (28-8) in Sunday's Midwest Regional final.
