BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- As you'd expect from a senior, Jack Doyle is trying to close his Western Kentucky career with a flourish.
The tight end again leads the Hilltoppers (5-1, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) in receiving, catching 27 passes for 242 yards entering Saturday's showdown against Louisiana-Monroe (4-2, 2-0).
Doyle's also on the midseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation's best player at that position. Pro scouts have already seen a lot of him at practice this fall.
Right now he's happy to be a scoring option again, after catching a nine-yard touchdown pass last week against Troy State. That ended a two-year drought and made Doyle the third Hilltoppers tight end to score this season with Tim Gorski and Mitchell Henry.
They expect more to follow.
