CINCINNATI (AP) -- First baseman Joey Votto was batting third in the Cincinnati Reds' starting lineup for their game on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Votto was listed in the lineup that was announced a few hours before the game.
Votto hasn't played since going on the disabled list on May 21, retroactive to May 16, with a quadriceps strain in his left knee, the same knee on which he had two surgical procedures in 2012. The Reds have gone 11-12 without the 2010 NL MVP, who is hitting .257 with six home runs and 12 RBIs in 39 games.
Votto spent Sunday and Monday on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville, going 2 for 6 with two strikeouts and grounding into a double play in two games.
