WKU Athlete Anyigbo Arrested, Released From Jail

Bowling Green - WKU basketball and football player Kene Anyigbo was released from the Warren County Regional Jail Monday afternoon following his arrest early Sunday morning.

Anyigbo was charged with marijuana possession, tampering with physical evidence and failure to illuminate head lamps. The charge of tampering with evidence is a felony.

According to the police report obtained by WBKO, Anyigbo admitted to eating marijuana while being pulled at Normal Drive and University Boulevard for not having his headlights on.

"We are aware of the charges," WKU athletic director Todd Stewart said on Sunday. "We are gathering more information and are handling the matter internally as it relates to WKU athletics."

Anyigbo played in 29 games for the WKU basketball team this season. He averaged 1.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 8.9 minutes per game. Anyigbo also recently joined the football team.
