IRVING, Texas — Conference USA announced its preliminary television schedule for the 2014 football season on Thursday, including five games involving the WKU Hilltoppers.
Beginning with the Friday, August 29 home opener against Bowling Green, the Hilltoppers will be featured on CBS Sports Network (CBS SN) and the Fox family of networks three times each. These six games include a previously announced television game at Navy (Sept. 27) on CBS SN.
“National television adds an extra level of excitement to the game, and we’re definitely going to enjoy the spotlight for these games,” said first-year head coach Jeff Brohm. “The exposure not only allows our out-of-town fans to watch us in action, it helps with recruiting and in all other areas of promoting our program. Over the years, our players have become very accustomed to playing on national television.”
WKU’s home opener against BGSU, set for 7 p.m., will air on CBS SN while a C-USA road game at Louisiana Tech (Nov. 1) will air on a Fox network which is to be announced. The BGSU game will also serve as the league’s first nationally televised game of the season.
When the Black Knights of Army come on their return trip to Bowling Green on Nov. 15, CBS SN will again air the contest which is set for an 11 a.m. kick-off. The following week, Nov. 22, UTSA comes to town for another C-USA tilt and will be aired by a Fox network. The time for that game has not yet been announced.
The Hilltoppers’ regular season finale, at Marshall on Black Friday (Nov. 28) will air on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) at 11 a.m. CT.
The 2014 C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 6 is scheduled to air on either ESPN or ESPN 2. It marks the 10th straight year that the C-USA Championship will air on the ESPN Family of Networks.
Dating back to the 2011 season, the Hilltoppers have appeared on television in 28 consecutive games, and games on the 2014 schedule may still be picked up for broadcast in the future with those games and networks released as soon as they are finalized. Per television standards, networks and times for the Hilltopper games airing on the Fox networks will be announced 12 days prior to kick-off.
