BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Western Kentucky University head football coach Bobby Petrino announced his first group of signees since being named the head coach at WKU on December 10, as four junior college student-athletes signed with the Hilltoppers on Wednesday.
Defensive lineman Maurice Bennett (East Mississippi CC), defensive back Dalton Patterson (Arkansas Baptist College), offensive lineman Connor Popeck (Itawamba CC) and wide receiver Lonnie Turner (Los Angeles Harbor College) all signed with the Hilltoppers.

Maurice Bennett — 6-3 290 | Defensive Line | East Mississippi Community College | Madison, Miss.
East Mississippi — Played in nine games in 2012, posting 11 total tackles, which included a tackle for a loss...Also forced a fumble from his defensive tackle position.
High School — Played for Madison Central High School in Mississippi...Was rated as a three-star recruit coming out of high school by Scout.com...Racked up 30 tackles from his defensive tackle position in his senior season.
Dalton Patterson — 6-3 188 | Defensive Back | Arkansas Baptist College | New Orleans, La.
Arkansas Baptist — Played one season at Arkansas Baptist, recording 25 tackles in nine games...Forced a fumble and recovered a fumble during the year, while also breaking up a pass...Had a season high seven solo tackles and forced a fumble against the College of DuPage late in the season.
High School — Played his high school ball with O. Perry High School in New Orleans.
Connor Popeck — 6-3 295 | Offensive Line | Itawamba Community College | Fulton, Miss.
Itawamba Community College — Played two seasons for Itawamba Community College in Mississippi, anchoring an offensive front that helped the Indians to a 6-3 record in 2012.
High School — Led St. Georges High School to the 2008 state championship, capping off an undefeated season...Earned all-state honors in both 2007 and 2008, while earning Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.
Lonnie Turner — 5-10 175 | Wide Receiver | Los Angeles Harbor College| Inglewood, Calif.
Los Angeles Harbor — Caught 25 passes for 485 yards in nine games with the Seahawks in 2012, averaging over 50 yards per game receiving...Averaged over nine yards per reception in 2012, while reeling in one touchdown grab...Had a season-high six catches for 176 yards against Allan Hancock, averaging over 29 yards per catch in the game.
High School — Played for Serra High School in California, helping the team to 15-0 season during his junior campaign, and a 14-1 season in 2010 — his senior year...Serra won 29 consecutive games during his time, losing the final game of the 2010 season to end the streak.
