BOWLING GREEN, Ky -- With almost 70-percent of the vote, Hilltopper fans overwhelmingly selected BLACK as the new end zone colors to appear on Feix Field as the WKU Hilltoppers begin their inaugural Conference USA season under head coach Jeff Brohm.
When voting began a week ago, Hilltopper fans rallied to select their favorite color of three choices: black, grey and green, to adorn the end zones inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
Of the three choices, the black end zones received 68-percent of the vote while grey finished in second at 19-percent followed by green, the current color of the field turf, at 13-percent.
"This is a new era for WKU football, and we felt it was appropriate for our fans decide the look of our new playing surface," said Director of Athletics Todd Stewart. "Replacing the turf is just one of the many ways we are improving our program as we head into Conference USA, and our fans are a major reason we were able to make this significant transition. We are excited about the new look that will accompany our inaugural season in Conference USA."
The turf replacement project will begin immediately following spring football practices.
