The Hilltopper Men's Basketball Team held their first official practice Saturday morning just hours after hosting Hilltopper Hysteria Friday night. With a few newcomers and a roster made up largely of younger players, there are still a few questions about how this year's rotation may stack up. But one thing is for sure about this year's team, they're going to work.
Coach Ray Harper said of the team, "We're going to work. Don't come in half-stepping thinking you're going to coast through a practice because it's not going to happen. Don't get comfortable if you think you're on the first team. There's really not a first team right now. I'm sure some guys think they're going to start, but we can flip jerseys and that will change quick."
Jamal Crook is the team's senior point guard and he understands the importance of defense early on in practice. "Our theme this year is defense. I talk to Coach Harp(er) a lot about that. Also, toughness and being aggressive. Defense it what we need to do."
