BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Fresh off their blowout win against Bowling Green State the Hilltoppers are turning the page. They are now focused on this week's Big 10 opponent Illinois.
The Tops racked up an astounding 708 yards of offense against the Falcons, but don't expect that to be the norm.
Their offensive attack is now on tape for their opponents to study, Bowling Green didn't have that luxury,
Head Coach Jeff Brohm said the surprise element factored in to the success his team had Friday night.
"To be honest with you I think we were able to execute on offense in the first game because a little bit of the element of surprise. I don't think Bowling Green really knew what we were going to do. Illinois does know what we're going to do so they're going to be very prepared for it we're going to have to find a way to win on both sides of the ball so it's definitely a critical game but it's going to be a very tough game," Brohm said.
Brohm said he doesn't want his team to be 'one win wonders' and that they must stay hungry. He said Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms texted him to say as much
"Just the other night, late, I got one from Phil Simms was very complimentary of course but then he basically said you know Bill Parcells used to tell us let's not be a one game wonder. So he just said keep it rolling and that's important you know a lot of times you can win a big game feel good about yourself and think you're ready for the next one but you're not so we've got to get that hunger back. We gotta try to work our tail off everyday and improve and understand how hard it's going to be to win each week week in and week out. All we can do is concentrate on Illinois but its definitely an outstanding team that's going to be big and physical and has some very good players," Brohm said.
