BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU sophomore T.J. Price was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team, and sophomore George Fant earned All-Sun Belt Conference Third Team recognition in end-of-season voting by conference coaches and media, the league office announced Wednesday.

The honors were the first of their careers. Fant was a preseason second-team selection, and Price was picked to the preseason third team in October. WKU has now had at least one All-Sun Belt Conference selection in each of the last 14 seasons, dating back to 1999-2000.

Price led the Hilltoppers in the 2012-13 regular season despite missing a handful of games due to injury, leading WKU in scoring at 14.9 points per game and finishing second in assists per game and third in rebounding. Price’s scoring average ranks eighth in the Sun Belt Conference entering the conference tournament, and he has made the fourth-most three-pointers per game in the conference.

The sophomore has scored in double figures in 22 of his 28 games this season, and he has more 20-point games than the rest of the Hilltoppers combined. The Slidell, La., native’s scoring ramps up an extra point per game in conference contests, and he was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two key conference contests earlier this season.

Fant has been a consistent presence for the Hilltoppers in 2012-13, as he is the only WKU player to start each game he has seen action on the year. Fant leads the Hilltoppers in rebounding this season, and he also has scored at least 10 points in 22 games this year. The Bowling Green, Ky., native is one of just five players in the conference to be averaging at least 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season, and his scoring has increased when the Hilltoppers are competing in conference games. Fant consistently commands double-teams on offense, and he still ranks second on the team among regulars in field goal percentage.

Seeded sixth, WKU begins play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Hot Springs, Ark., Friday night at 6:00 against 11th-seeded ULM. The game will be broadcast on the radio on the Hilltopper lMG Sports Network, and every game of the conference tournament will be streamed live for free on the Sun Belt Conference's website.
