BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-The Western Kentucky University volleyball team finishes its historical 2012 season on another high note, as the Lady Toppers rank at No. 21 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Final Top 25 Poll.

It is the first time in school history that the team was listed in the top 25 after receiving 288 points from votes. WKU closed out the season with a 33-4 record and a program and conference record of spending 11-consecutive weeks in the top 25 poll.

WKU faced a high-level of competition during the campaign, as the team's four losses came to No. 3 Penn State, No. 17 Louisville and No. 22 Ohio State during the regular season and No. 4 Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Toppers also defeated two ranked opponents in No. 19 Dayton and No. 5 Michigan, which reached the Final Four in Louisville last weekend along with the Nittany Lions.

Numerous Lady Toppers were also recognized for their efforts throughout the season, as six were named All-Sun Belt Conference selections along with junior Ashley Potts being named SBC Defensive Player of the Year. Senior Jordyn Skinner and junior Melanie Stutsman were recently named AVCA All-Americans, as it is the second time in Skinner's career and third consecutive for Stutsman.

The AVCA also recognized SBC Coach of the Year Travis Hudson as the South Region Coach of the Year and one of the select few coaches in the country to be a National Coach of the Year finalist.
