Bowling Green, Ky. — After capping off his record-setting 2012 regular season with a second straight 200-yard game, Western Kentucky University junior running back Antonio Andrews was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.

Andrews joins Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning as the only three-time SBC Offensive Player-of-the-Week selections this season. He also earned the award in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24.

Andrews carried the ball 25 times for 230 yards and what proved to be the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Hilltoppers closed out a 7-5 regular season with a 25-24 victory over North Texas on Saturday. He also caught a pair of passes for 12 yards, while posted 68 kickoff return yards and 13 punt return yards to finish with 323 all-purpose yards. That was the fourth straight game that Andrews has eclipsed 300 all-purpose yards.

With 1,609 rushing yards on the year, Andrews now ranks fourth on WKU’s single-season rushing list and is just the fifth player in Hilltopper history to post a 1,500-yard season. Additionally, with 2,977 all-purpose yards this season, he ranks third on the NCAA single-season list behind Pacific's Ryan Benjamin (2,995 yards in 1991) and Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders (3,250 yards in 1988). Andrews is just 274 yards away from breaking Sanders’ single-season record set during his Heisman-Trophy winning campaign.

In addition to his Sun Belt accolades, Andrews was also named to Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth time this season. It was fourth straight week that Andrews has been honored. Fan voting for the 2012 Hornung Award is still taking place at www.votepaulhornung.com, and will run through Dec. 2.
