Bowling Green, Ky. - Phil Steele's College Football Update announced its 2012 Midseason All-America teams on Wednesday, with a pair of Hilltoppers finding their names among those selected. Senior defensive lineman Quanterus Smith was a fourth-team defensive lineman, while junior running back/return specialist Antonio Andrews was selected as a fourth-team all-purpose performer.

Andrews currently ranks second in the nation in all-purpose yards, averaging 213.0 yards per game. The Fort Campbell, Ky., native has posted over 200 all-purpose yards in four of five games this season, racking up a career-high 261 in WKU's victory at Arkansas State. That was thanks in part of a career-best 215 rushing yards against the Red Wolves - his third straight game with over 100 rushing yards.

The Sun Belt leader in rushing yards at 108.4 yards per game, Andrews is also tied for the league lead averaging 14.4 punt return yards. He broke a 70-yard return for a touchdown in the Hilltoppers' season-opening win over Austin Peay. Andrews has twice been named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week this season, doing so in back-to-back weeks after wins over Kentucky and Southern Miss.

Smith enters play this week as the nation's leader in sacks, averaging 1.62 sacks per game. His 2.38 tackles for loss per contest also ranked first in the Sun Belt and fourth nationally. The Loganville, Ga., product made his season debut in week two against Alabama, posting three sacks and forcing a fumble against the top-ranked Crimson Tide. He bettered that effort in WKU's last outing as he was credited with a career-high 3.5 sacks against Arkansas State. His 5.5 tackles for loss against the Red Wolves was also a career best as he was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Smith already has 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in his four games played in 2012. He entered the year with 11.5 career sacks.

The Hilltoppers return to action tomorrow night (Oct. 11) when they visit Troy for a 6:30 p.m. (CDT) nationally televised contest on ESPNU. Coming off a bye week, WKU is 4-1 overall, and is off to a 1-0 start in Sun Belt Conference play for the first time since joining the league in 2009.
