Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University junior running back Antonio Andrews was honored twice this weekend for his performance in Thursday night’s contest against Middle Tennessee.

Andrews joined USC’s Marqise Lee as the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll Selections. He was also named an honorable mention all-purpose performer by the College Football Performance Awards.

Andrews eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season with a 136-yard night against the Blue Raiders. He also finished the night with a career-best 392 all-purpose yards — the most by a Hilltopper since Joey Stockton set a Division I-AA record with 467 on Sept. 16, 1995 at Southern Illinois.

In addition to his running numbers, Andrews caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, while also racking up 182 kickoff return yards (the second highest single-game total in school history) and 20 punt return yards. He now ranks fifth on WKU’s single-season list with 1,972 all-purpose yards. The school record is 2,101 set by Bobby Rainey in 2009. Andrew has rushed for over 100 yards in seven straight games – the longest active streak by a running back in the nation this season, and one game shy of equaling a WKU record.

The Hilltoppers host Florida Atlantic this Saturday (Nov. 10) in a noon (CST) kickoff at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Fans should note that this start time was switched to accommodate Sun Belt Network television. Many game tickets and early promotional materials will list this as a 3 p.m. start, as they were printed prior to the time being switched to noon.
