BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football senior Mitchell Henry has been selected as one of 42 tight ends on the 2014 College Football Performance Awards Tight End Trophy Watch List.
Henry is the second Hilltopper to be selected to the CFPA Watch List, following senior defensive back Cam Thomas, who landed on the CFPA Defensive Back Trophy Watch List on June 30. As a junior in 2013, Henry led WKU tight ends with 25 catches for 305 yards and two touchdowns. He led the Hilltoppers in receiving yards on two occasions, racking up 65 yards in victories against both Kentucky and ULM.
As WKU’s No. 2 tight end in a run-heavy offense during the 2011-12 seasons, Henry was still a consistent playmaker for the Hilltoppers, tallying 21 receptions for 300 yards and six touchdowns. He enters his senior year with 46 career receptions, 605 yards and eight touchdowns.
Henry’s recognition by the CFPA is his fourth preseason honor in 2014, as he was also selected to the John Mackey Award Watch List and named Preseason All-Conference USA by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports earlier this summer.
The CFPA, founded in 2008, honors player and team performance in all three phases of the game -- offense, defense, and special teams. The CFPA will announce its award winners on January 14, 2015.
