Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University’s Derrius Brooks has been named to the North roster for the 2012 Players All-Star Classic. The game will take place on Feb. 4 at War Memorial Stadium, AT&T Field in Little Rock, Ark., and will be televised live at 3 p.m. (CST) on CSS.

Brooks is the second member of the 2011 Hilltopper senior class to play in a postseason all-star game. All-America running back Bobby Rainey took part in the East-West Shrine Game last Saturday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

A native of Fortson, Ga., Brooks ranked fifth among WKU defenders in 2011 with 48 total tackles. He also led the team with 10 pass breakups, and ranked 23rd nationally with four interceptions. That interception total was also second most in the Sun Belt Conference. His efforts during his senior season earned Brooks a spot on the all-Sun Belt second team.

A converted wide receiver, he intercepted seven passes over his final two seasons on the Hill, while registering 84 tackles over that span.
