Lady Toppers Turned Away as NO. 23/24 FAU Sweeps Doubleheader

WKU’s rally in the second contest of the day’s doubleheader fell short as the Lady Toppers dropped the first two games of their Conference USA weekend series at No. 23/24 Florida Atlantic (43-7, 18-2).

In one of the wildest finishes of the year, freshman Steven DiPuglia punched a single into right field to plate the winning run in the bottom of the 12th in walk-off fashion, giving WKU (24-20, 10-11 C-USA) a 3-2 victory over FIU (22-24, 9-12) in the series finale and a one-game lead over the Panthers for eighth place in the Conference USA standings.

With the 249th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected a former WKU cornerback Prince Charles Iworah in the seventh round on Saturday.

With the 223rd pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected a former WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty, a hometown product, in the seventh round on Saturday.

With the 110th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected former WKU tight end Tyler Higbee in the fourth round on Saturday.
