Michael Gossum is the Political Director at WBKO-TV covering all things politics in south central Kentucky, in Frankfort and some on the national scene.
He's been at WBKO since the fall of 2011 serving at first as a general assignment reporter, then weekend anchor and now Political Director. While working here, he's covered such stories as the Corvette Museum Sinkhole and the high profile McConnell, Grimes U.S. Senate Race.
During his tenure in south central Kentucky, Michael has been nominated for Best TV Anchor in 2012 and Best Political Coverage in 2013 by the Kentucky Associated Press.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Missouri. He double majored in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science, with a minor in German.
Michael's journalism career began while at Mizzou, working as an anchor, reporter, and videographer at the NBC affiliate, KOMU, in Columbia, MO covering stories such as the tornado that ripped through Lambert International Airport in St. Louis in 2011.
He also served as a public address announcer for the University's baseball team and nationally ranked softball team.
While in the Show-Me State, Michael also worked at the Missouri state capitol in Jefferson City as a political reporter for Missouri Digital News, the National Public Radio affiliate KBIA and CBS Radio KMOX.
Growing up as an avid UK fan and going to college at Mizzou, he's excited to see his two favorite collegiate programs going head to head on a regular basis. He's also a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
