James Brandenburg Bio Save Email Print
Name: James Brandenburg
Title: Sports Director

From Philadelphia to Manhattan, Kansas, James Brandenburg's seen a lot of the country since joining the WBKO sports team in 2002.

And after being named WBKO's sports director in June 2006, he's hoping Western Kentucky and UK sports can finally take him everywhere.

James has covered three Sun Belt tournaments, two SEC tournaments and the NCAA basketball championship (twice) in his time at WBKO, as well as WKU's run to the 2004 Sun Belt baseball championship and Warren Central's 2004 state boy’s basketball title. Since August 2004, he's hosted "Inside WKU Sports," a school-year-round show focusing on Western Kentucky football and basketball (which in 2005 garnered he and Kyle Edelen "Best Sports Talk Show" honors from the Kentucky Associated Press).

He's also hoping to bring plenty of community involvement to the WBKO sports department, focusing on covering the stories around South Central Kentucky that make sports great.

Growing up in Louisville, James has always had an obsession with sports and a desire to work in broadcasting, but he credits a few good mentors during his high school days with leading him down the path to Bowling Green.

A 2004 graduate of Western Kentucky, James spent four years involved with the sports and news departments of the award-winning student newscast on the Hill. In 2002, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation honored him for his work in radio news as well. His time at Western also saw him do radio play-by-play for Hilltopper and Lady Topper Basketball and involved in news and sports talk in Bowling Green. He enjoys sports of all kinds; his off days find him sneaking out to play golf or traveling to Louisville, if possible.
