Stephanie is the newest member of the WBKO weather team. She came on board during the summer of 2010 after graduating from Western Kentucky University.
Originally from Lebanon, Tennessee, Stephanie moved to Bowling Green after transferring from Middle Tennessee State University to WKU to study meteorology.
Growing up, Stephanie was fearful of severe weather and would actually run and hide during storms. The Nashville Tornado Outbreak of 1998 changed that after Stephanie witnessed her first funnel cloud. That day, the farm next to her elementary school was destroyed leaving Stephanie fascinated with storms. Originally aspiring to be a tornado chaser, Stephanie’s dreams changed once she realized this would mean moving away from the South and she decided to pursue broadcast meteorology instead.
Stephanie graduated from WKU in the spring of 2010 with a degree in geography with a concentration in meteorology and a minor in broadcasting as well as her associates in meteorological technology. At WKU, she participated in radio at WWHR and in broadcasting through New Channel 12. Also she was a member of the Storm Team and even had our own Shane Holinde as a professor. She completed her internship under the guidance of Lisa Patton at WKRN News Channel 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends both here in Bowling Green and back home in Tennessee. Stephanie enjoys reading, playing on the lake, NASCAR, and “reality” TV. Bowling Green has become Stephanie’s new home, and she is thrilled to be a part of the community.
