In times of need, having people donate blood is crucial.
Americans and Canadians donate about 40,000 pints of blood each day, but that number is still not enough.
Now a little help from Facebook could be the answer.
Takes All Types, a non profit organization is teaming up with the popular social networking site.
Facebookers just have to install the new application, tell it their location and blood type and how often they want to be contacted to donate blood.
If a shortage occurs, the organization will send out alerts to your Facebook account as well as by phone, e-mail and text message.
It will also send you reminders for regular donations.
Will you use this application? Do you think this is a good idea? Let me know!

The New York governor scandal not only brought the people of New York to a standstill, but also the New York Times website!
The site normally takes a bout 3-seconds to load, but just minutes after the scandal broke out it took more than 20-seconds for the page to load!!
The website is now running at normal speed, while the fate of New York's Governor is still up in the air.
