Barren River Area Development District Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program

The Barren River Area Development District will begin accepting applications for the Kentucky Family Caregiver Program and National Family Caregiver Support Program for grandparent and relative caregivers beginning August 5, 2015. Grandparents who are raising their grandchildren can apply to receive assistance with clothing, school supplies, furniture, personal care items and respite.

If your child will be 3 to 4 years of age on or before August 1st, you may qualify for Head Start. Head Start is a free [rpgram that builds success for children through child focused, family-centered services that enhance social competence, school readiness and overall health and well being.

Items needed to process your application:
-Verification of family income (tax return, check stub, KTAP or SSI documentation)
-Child's birth certificate & immunization record

Butler County Genealogy Event

Learn about Butler Co. History as well as share your family research with others seeking information. Meet new people and kin folk at our 2nd annual event. Local historian, Roger Givens will be present along with a workshop with Nancy Richey, lunch is provided. $10.00 admission fee.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Allen County Courthouse.
Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc. is inviting the public to attend their annual Candlelight Vigil to be held on October 23th at the Allen County Courthouse.
The vigil gives us an opportunity to
remember those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence, support those who have survived, and to engage in community efforts to eliminate violence.
The vigil will begin at 6:00 p.m. and free parking is available. Please come out to show your support for survivors and ending domestic abuse in our community.
