Iraqi War Soldier Deaths

As of Thursday, May 6, 759 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 552 died as a result of hostile action and 207 died of non-hostile causes, the department said.

The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain 8 Bulgaria 6, Ukraine 4, Thailand 2, Denmark, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia and Poland have reported 1 each.

On or since May 1, 2003 when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 621 U.S. soldiers have died - 443 as a result of hostile action and 178 of non-hostile causes, according to the Defense Department's figures.
