After saving a two people from a burning vehicle fire, Edmonson County probation and parole officer, Josh Watt, was honored with the prestigious Carnegie Hero Award. There are people like Josh that can step in and help out when someone else may not somewhere else, said Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle. Watt was on his way to work in June 2017 when he came upon the scene of a vehicle accident. He then got out of his car and crawled into the cab of a burning truck, where he saved a father and a daughter from the flames that could've taken their life. "He saved my brothers life," said the sister of James Allmon, who was the father trapped in that burning truck. Watt is the 10,002 recipient of the award. When asked what his response was when he learned he'd be the recipient, he told 13 News he was humbled and thankful. "Just thank you," Watt said. "This is a huge, huge honor. I never expected to get something like this." Along with the award tonight, he also recently named the VFW Department of Kentucky's "Police Officer of the Year."
