Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews are taking steps to prepare for winter precipitation expected later this week.
Due to forecasted rain highway crews in the 11 counties of KYTC Highway District two will be un-able to pre-treat roads with salt brine before snow flurries expected Wednesday and Thursday.
Crews will be on alert ready to respond quickly should hazardous driving conditions develop.
Salt trucks are fully loaded and ready to roll out on short notice over the New Year's holiday weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to follow weather conditions and changes in the forecast.
A temperature change of just a few degrees as winter precipitation falls can make a big difference in driving conditions during the Winter months.
