JACKSON, Ky. (AP) -- Small stream flooding in eastern Kentucky has forced the closing of several school systems.
An urban and small stream flooding advisory was in effect early Monday for several counties, taking in cities that included Jackson, Hazard, Corbin, London and Middlesboro.
Forecasters said that, although the heaviest rain had ceased well before dawn, the runoff had many small streams running at bankfull and lowland flooding was likely.
