Tornado Warning Expires for parts of Simpson County

A tornado warning this afternoon brought a tense few moments for folks on the Kentucky-Tennessee line.

The warning was issued for Simpson County at around 4:30 this afternoon after a tornado was reported just South of the state line.

Although a tornado never touched down in Simpson County, we received a couple of pictures of Franklin skies from Charles Browning.
Unlike funnel clouds and tornadoes, the pictures are of "roll clouds" and are horizontal instead of vertical.

Please don't judge the entire storm based upon a picture of some of the clouds. My grandmother and great-aunt saw a vertical funnel cloud pass between their homes as they were driving back to my grandmother's house for safety. The clouds that were in picture above came through AFTER the vertical funnel cloud. This was in the Gold City area on the Franklin and Allen Co line.
