Sweltering heat has arrived in southern Kentucky
Heat and humidity get comfortable in the region while it makes things uncomfortable for Kentuckians!
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Temperatures and humidity are on the rise as we head into the middle of the work week! The surge in temperatures and muggy air are from air to the south and west, pulling the sticky air from the Gulf of Mexico. This will make things feel like the mid-to-upper 90s at times today, so it is important to take your time if you are doing any physical activity outside and take several breaks if you need to. It is also very important to stay hydrated as you will sweat out a lot of moisture from your body with the heat.
The sticky air getting pulled from the Gulf of Mexico is happening ahead of a cold front that will slowly move in by early Thursday morning, allowing shower and thunderstorm chances to return in the region. The storm chances linger through the end of the week, into the weekend, and into next week. The heat also stays with us so we are really in the dog days of summer! On that note -- don’t forget your pets! They will be hot too!
