Bowling Green student pairs with Empanadas BG to feed the homeless
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Hunger and Homelessness awareness week continues, and one Bowling Green student is getting involved.
Ryan Depp started Ryan’s Making a Difference Outreach about four years ago. The program helps the homeless community in the Bowling Green area.
“There is a big issue within the community, and it the homeless. They are often neglected,” Depp said. “I thought I could take action and do my part to help change things.”
Depp said he started with just seven or eight volunteers that would hand out food like sandwiches, but they have now evolved to be able to serve things hot.
“Our numbers have significantly increased and we are feeding a lot more people,” Depp explained.
On Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Empanadas BG, a food truck service in Bowling Green, will pair with Ryan to help feed the homeless community.
“We’ve never really had any kind of food truck come by so we’re really thankful for him to do that free of charge with the kindness of his heart, so it should be exciting for a lot of people," Depp said.
