Tompkinsville pursuit leads to Colorado man’s arrest
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The Tompkinsville Police Department says on Friday, Sgt. Ricky Shirley was nearly involved in a head on collision after a car crossed the center line, almost hitting his patrol car.
The sergeant attempted a traffic stop, but the other vehicle did not stop. After a pursuit, the driver of the car lost control and crashed. The driver then ran into a nearby field while Sgt. Shirley began to render aid to a juvenile who was involved in the crash.
The juvenile was treated and later released from the hospital with minor injuries.
A search was conducted in which the driver was found in a nearby basement several hours later.
The driver was Edward Bonds from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Police say Bonds had two outstanding full extradition warrants from the State of Colorado. Bonds has been charged with the following charges:
-Speeding 26 mph or > speed limit
-Fleeing or evading police, 1st (vehicle)
-Fleeing or evading police, 1st (foot)
-Reckless driving
-No operators-moped license
-Disregarding stop sign
-Wanton endangerment-1st
-Wanton endangerment-1st-police officer
-Resisting arrest

-Escape
-Sex offender failed to register
-Theft-person and harrassment- stalking
