Advice for setting your 2021 intentions to achieve your health, happiness goals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - We likely all agree that 2021 could stand to be a better year for all of us. 2020 taught us a lot of lessons and now it’s time to turn them into action.

Holly Pickerel is a blogger and social media influencer who shares her passion for good health, nutrition, positive thinking and empowerment.

Pickerel points out that results come from consistency over time. She says if you write your goal down or present it visually in some way that you can regularly look at it, you are 42 percent more likely to achieve your goal. “Vision is really the clear mental picture of what could be, and what should be, in your life,” said Pickerel. She said creating a vision board takes preparation. She recommends buying a blank foam board, then taking some time to reflect on various areas of your life, including health, career, spirituality, relationships, family, finances and lifestyle. Pickerel refers to this as a “brain dump” in which you take everything out of your head and get it out. ”Reflect on what’s working, look back in gratitude and look forward to what you want to change.”

The second step is to consider the ways in which you want to make a change. Visualize yourself seeing better results and ask yourself what you have to do to achieve that. “The more clarity you have on your goals, the easier it is to achieve it.”

Pickerel also encourages sitting down and sharing your goals with a trusted friend. “Maybe if you know you want to achieve something and you don’t know how to get clear on it, talk to a friend about it, pray about it, spend time journaling or meditating.”
