BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - An opportunity for local high school football players has been presented to kids in our area by some men who have had success on the field.

The first-ever Southern Kentucky Winter Showcase will take place on January 16 and 17 and looks to present opportunities to student-athletes to showcase their skills to college coaches.

Organizers Tyreon Clark, Nacarius Fant, and Jamie Garcia say there is a lot of football talent here in South Central Kentucky and want to put that talent on display.

“We know what it takes to get there (Division one), so we wanted to come together to provide a platform to give athletes that are right here in our backyard,” said Clark.

High school athletes will compete and showcase their skills in a series of drills, speed and agility stations, and competitive football contests.

Fant, who won KY Mr. Football for the Bowling Green Purples and played for WKU, says that sometimes players in our area get overlooked and this camp will provide proper exposure.

“Having it here in Bowling Green it allows kids from specifically this area and the surrounding cities and counties to be able to showcase their talents.”

Current high school and college coaches will help facilitate the camp while also evaluating talent.
