BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -For over 20 years Andy Pilgrim has been educating people across the United States about traffic safety.

When Pilgrim moved to our area he teamed up with the National Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park to offer a driving training program for South Central Kentucky.

Pilgrim told 13 News that a majority of Americans who receive their driver’s license never take a driver’s educational course. The driving training provides an inside instructional portion and then an outdoors driving course.

“We get a lot of people staying for two, three hours sometimes on the course which is what we want. It is something that seems to be growing in popularity now and I am glad to see that,” said Andy Pilgrim, instructor.

Pilgrim added children learn their driving habits from their parents starting at a young age.

“One of the biggest things parents are taking away from this and from the feedback they are giving me is, they never thought about the fact that when they turned the child’s safety seat around to face front ‘my child started to pick up my driving habits and behaviors’. That is something they have their eyes open about. So when they come back to me and afterward and they say I learned so much here with my 16 or 17-year-old on a permit but I have an 11 and 8-year-old things are going to change,” added Pilgrim.

Pilgrim has driving training programs available June 5, 6, 15, and July 10, 11, 13. To sign up for the program click here.
