SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) - A man in Scottsville is behind bars following a police chase that resulted in a dozen charges.

According to Scottsville Police, 22-year-old Ian Nicholas Brown was pulled over when police detected the smell of marijuana.

Police say Brown admitted that he had a joint on his lap with a small child restrained in the back seat. Brown then reportedly sped off, dragging the officer alongside the car for a short distance.

Allen County Sheriff’s deputies then joined the pursuit along Highway 101 North. The car turned on Gainesville Road and then back toward Scottsville. The pursuit continued on Old Glasgow Road where the suspect sideswiped the officer, police report.

Police say Brown got out of his car on Moncrief Street and ran away. He was eventually arrested in a wooded area and allegedly had in his possession $446 cash, scales and a firearm.

Brown was placed in the Allen County Jail where he faces 12 charges including the Assault of a Police Officer.
