Success Story: Local restaurant continued to thrive during COVID-19 pandemic
GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - Local restaurants and businesses faced several challenges, and are still trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, one restaurant in Glasgow was able to keep business booming over the past year.
“I just love their food, cooking and it’s a friendly environment,” Arthur Hatfield, a regular at Dale n Gale’s, said.
The restaurant sits along Happy Valley Rd. and has been open for 21 years now. There was a lady and a man whose name was Sandra Gale, and his name was Danny Dale, so that is how it got started,” Manager Jennifer Crabtree said.
Not even the COVID-19 pandemic could affect the good food and service that comes from the restaurant. “It was pretty scary because we didn’t know what was going to happen as far as, you know, if we were going to be able to be open, or if it was going to be busy,” Crabtree explained.
Despite government-mandated shutdowns and more people staying at home in general, Gale n Dales beat the odds and continued to stay busy. “We have been very busy, and we have been open the whole time, except when we had to shut down for a couple of weeks, you know, inside,” Crabtree said.
The local restaurant is located in an old Hardee’s building, so they were also able to fill orders through the drive-thru. “We stay really busy with the drive-thru especially with the pandemic going on”
Their regulars staying loyal to the home cooking as well, coming in multiple days a week. “Obviously the food is awesome and I kind of feel like I’m part of the family here,” Todd Barbour, another regular of the restaurant, said.
They were able to keep their staff working during the tough times as well. Gales n Dale’s is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
