BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The Eighth Annual Dance Big Red student-led dance fundraising event at Western Kentucky University will be held Friday, April 1 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Houchens Industries – LT Smith Stadium.

Since inception, Dance Big Red has raised over $400,000 for Norton Children’s Hospital.

“This is also our fourth year hosting a community hour, which will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. and will give community members the opportunity to get a closer look at the event from the concourse at the Stadium,” said Reed Breunig, WKU Senior and Dance Big Red Co-Chair Chair. “This same hour will also be Warren County Public Schools Dance Little Red Hour and Community Hour along with our WKU Athletes hour as well.”

All Western Kentucky University students, faculty and staff are invited to participate as a dancer. All WKU friends and family can support the event with a donation or become a business sponsor for the event.

Amanda Miller said that Norton Children’s Hospital has impacted her life with her daughter, Abigail.

“Our family’s journey with Norton Children’s heart institute started when our daughter Abigail was only a few hours old,” said Miller. “She was taken to Norton’s on their Just for Kids plane and had open heart surgery at three days old. She has been a Norton’s kid ever since and we could not be happier with all of the doctors.”

Students can get involved by signing up or forming a team, and the cost is $14 per individual with a suggested fundraising minimum of $100. Community members can get involved by donating at or sponsoring a dancer.
