Man convicted in Lexus Bell murder sentenced to life in prison
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Almost six years after Bell was killed inside her Russellville apartment, Demetrius Roberson, 28, was sentenced in Logan Circuit Court Thursday.
Roberson was sentenced to life without a chance at parole for at least 25 years by Logan Circuit Judge Joe Hendricks.
A jury found him guilty of murder, attempted murder, first-degree robbery and nine counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
Roberson was convicted in November from an Aug. 21, 2016 home invasion.
Police say he entered the apartment with the intention to steal money, marijuana and firearms.
Lexus Bell, 21, was fatally shot while holding her child.
Around 1 a.m. on August 21, 2016, the Russellville Police Department responded to a shots fired call at the Robinwood Apartments on Highland Lick Road.
Officers found Bell with a gunshot wound. Bell was taken to Logan Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Officers said the mother was shot once in the head on her son’s birthday while he was in her arms.
Police say there were eight other children in the apartment who were shot at as they ran out.
