OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) - The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday the loss of one of their own.

In a Facebook post, Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty said the department “suffered a great loss” after retired Kentucky State Police Trooper, and now Ohio County Sheriff Deputy, Jerry Critchelow, died.

Beatty said Critchelow served the county for years and served as a school resource officer.

“Deputy Critchelow has been a role model and mentor for many people, including our law enforcement officers, and has dedicated his life to the safety and security of our citizens,” said Beatty. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as we mourn the loss of a fellow officer.”

In honor of Critchelow, the office moved his squad car on display in front of the Ohio County High School for the community to pay tribute.
