LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The suspect accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer and trying to pull people over in Laurel County has been found.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday afternoon they had found the suspect and vehicle involved in the incident. The name of the suspect was not released.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect installed blue flashing lights on their car and was reportedly stopping other cars in southern Laurel County over the weekend.

At least one incident was reported near the Laurel and Knox county line on Tuttle Road. Clinton Setser says another car was able to get in front of him and got him to stop. He says the car had blue lights that looked like a police car.

“Yeah, he blocked the road. He stopped me,” said Setser. “Got out and asked me what I was drinking. I said, ‘if anyone was causing an accident, it was you.’”

Setser says the suspect followed him to his cousin’s house but kept going.

We’re told this case is still under investigation, and more information will be released at a later time.

The sheriff’s office says if you are concerned a vehicle pulling you over isn’t actually an officer to ask for their identification and badge number or wait to try to pull over at a public place or where there are other people around.
